Overwatch’s two-year celebration will begin next week on May 22. The event will kick off on Tuesday with the release of a new digital ‘Legendary Edition’ of the game.
The game’s second anniversary celebrations will last from May 22-June 12. A new Deathmatch map, Petra, is being added along with a new ‘competitive mode’ featuring placement matches, skill rating tiers, and leaderboards. New items include eight Legendary skins and three Epic skins, and additional dance emotes for Doomfist, Moira, and Brigitte.
A number of items from previous celebrations will return, including dance emotes from last year’s anniversary, with several seasonal brawls coming back to the Arcade. All players will be able to claim a ‘Legendary Anniversary Loot Box’ with at least one guaranteed Legendary item inside, and all previous seasonal event loot will be available in loot boxes during the event in case you want to buy any of those things.
To cap it off, Blizzard will be offering a free weekend in the game from May 25-29. As for the Legendary Edition, that’ll be out next Tuesday and feature a mix of Legendary, Epic, and Origin skins for a total of 15. No word yet on how much that will cost, nor whether anything else is included in it.
