Alcatel‘s Idol 3 smartphone should begin receiving Android 6.0 Marshmallow starting today.
The company shared the news via its official Twitter account. The Idol 3 was Alcatel’s 2015 flagship Android smartphone. It was initially sold directly to consumers unlocked, but was eventually picked up by Cricket Wireless.
For now, Alcatel says only the unlocked variant will receive Marshmallow. The system update includes a number of new features, such as Now On Tap, Doze, and advanced permissions.
Alcatel announced the Idol 4 back in February, but has yet to say when its 2016 flagship phone will go on sale.
