Microsoft has released a new technical preview of Windows 10 for PCs, but not for mobile devices.

The company hasn’t provided an update to Windows 10 Mobile in some time, so it took the opportunity to reassure consumers that new bits are on the way. Microsoft said it is “still on track to release Windows 10 as an upgrade to existing devices early this year as we planned.” (The update was originally supposed to arrive in December.)

Microsoft said it is fine-tuning the code based on feedback from Windows Insiders who’ve installed preview builds, and it continues to make good progress. The company will share more details as soon as it knows when the rollout to older phones will take place.

More to the point, Microsoft says it is working to unify the Windows OneCore across PCs, smartphones, Xbox, and its HoloLens platform.

“Our build systems produce new builds daily for all of these editions, so as we’ve been doing this work we have been producing new PC builds as well as mobile builds. Today we deliver our 4th PC preview build, and are nearly ready to start sharing new preview builds for mobile as well,” explained Microsoft.

The new preview builds will be made available to the 950, 950XL, and 550 first, followed by other Windows 10 devices down the road.
