In case you missed the news yesterday, Minecraft developer Mojang is supposedly in final talks with Microsoft for a full acquisition. The Xbox One maker is set to buy Mojang for $2 billion, if the report holds true.

Now, a follow-up to that same report from Bloomberg has it that Markus “Notch” Persson will depart Mojang after the Microsoft sale goes through. The source that Bloomberg has says that Notch will hang around for the “transition,” but that he’s “unlikely to remain beyond that.”

All of this still sits very much in rumor territory. Until Microsoft or Mojang produces an official release regarding the purchase itself, we have no real solid ground to stand on.

However, it’s worth noting that the often vocal Notch has been completely silent on this developing story. That silence, in my mind, speaks louder than anything we have seen so far.
