Casio has just launched a new compact camera in its EXILIM range. The EX-ZR800 uses a similar 16.1-megapixel sensor to earlier versions, as well as the EXILIM engine for image processing, but this time increases the optical zoom from 12.5x to 18x, and introduces five stop, five axis image stabilization for clearer photographs.

Fitted with an F3.5 to F5.9, 25mm wide-angle lens on the front, the EX-ZR800 offers continuous shooting, an ISO sensitivity of 25,600, HDR photography, panoramas and wide shots, a HS Night Shot mode, and a number of built-in artistic filters. Complete with a 5fps burst mode speed and a Triple Shot mode that takes photographs before and after the shutter button is pressed, it can also record 1080p H.264 video at 30fps, as well as lower resolutions at up to 240fps.

The EX-ZR800 will launch in Japan on August 23rd for around 40,000 yen ($420), and is expected to go on sale in Europe in the future for a similar price. It is unknown if it will be available in the United States.
