“Zero Waste to Landfill” Recycling Program

Posted by at 6:27 pm on August 19, 2008

Toshiba America Business Solutions (TABS) today announced a partnership with Close the Loop, a recycler of imaging consumables, to create the “Zero Waste to Landfill” recycling program. Scheduled to launch on Oct. 1, this program is TABS’ most comprehensive environmental sustainability initiative to date, allowing for the 100-percent recycling of collected consumable supplies. Close the Loop’s customized collection program for TABS provides the company with recyclable collection boxes and supplies, freight, transportation, and recycling services for its toner bottles, laser cartridges, drum units, toner bags, and other imaging consumables.

Traditionally difficult to process, imaging supplies require specialized equipment in order to recycle them. Close the Loop has patented four different processes for recycling imaging supplies, resulting in a zero-waste solution without using thermal destruction (burning).

Registration for this world-class recycling program will begin October 1, 2008 with the program launch. In support of the program, Toshiba is creating a web portal its dealers and customers to join the effort.
