Nintendo America announced that the demo version of the game, Yo-Kai Watch, for Nintendo 3DS will be available for download for free starting Oct. 22. The complete version of the game will officially be released on Nov. 6.
The United States arm of the Japanese gaming empire earlier this week announced that the original official release date of the video game demo was on Oct. 13, but the day came and gone without a copy listed on the 3DS eShop. Later on, Nintendo America deleted the earlier announcement to move the release date to next week.
Nintendo intended to release the demo versions of upcoming games two weeks before the official release to introduce the new title and create a buzz.
Earlier this week, the demo version leaked online after going through the Australian Classification Board. The game overall received the PG rating with a tag of “mild violence.”
Yo-Kai Watch has created an empire in Japan comparable to the popularity with Pokemon. The title has spawned a video game, a cartoon series, mangas, and, of course, merchandise. The story follows a young boy who discovers that Yo-Kais exist in his world and in order to engage with the supernatural creatures, he uses a special watch.
Unfortunately, it is still not clear how much of the game will be available on the demo version or if the player’s progress will be transferred once the full version comes out.
Level-5, the video game developer, has also released Yo-Kai Land app for iOS and Android featuring Whisper as your spirit guide to the wonderful world of Yo-Kai. Meanwhile, Hasbro has started lining up toys and other merchandise that will be launched next year.
The full version of Yo-Kai Watch for 3DS will be available to Australia and New Zealand starting Dec. 5, while Europe will get their fix some time in 2016.
