XBMC 11 Eden Gets Long-Awaited Modern UI Look – Now Supports AirPlay

The XBMC team has posted a finished version of its comprehensive 11.0 Eden update. The version is the first fully updated version to simultaneously reach both desktop platforms as well as jailbreak-based implementations on the second-generation Apple TV and iOS. Every platform now lets an XBMC device serve as an AirPlay target for video and more.

The stock interface, Confluence, has received its own major rework with both basic speed updates as well as a simpler library view, new networking support, and a new weather service, among general improvements. Linux users running XBMCbuntu now get a fuller experience with a real LXDE desktop underneath; this adds the Chromium browser with Flash support as well as typical desktop apps and the option of a real dual-boot between XBMC and a regular desktop.

Both XBMCbuntu and regular Linux installs now have AMD-based hardware video decoding.

The desktop Linux, Mac, and Windows versions are conventional installers and don’t require special privileges. Apple TV and iOS users by definition will void their warranties as long as the jailbreak is active.
