Last month when Blizzard released patch 5.4.7 for World of Warcraft, a number of players briefly spied a glimpse of an upcoming service that allows players to avoid all the level grinding a take the fast track to level 90. That service has finally arrived, and will cost a hefty $60, which is more expensive than the standard edition of Warlords of Draenor that’s arriving this Fall.

“There comes a time in every hero’s quest when they need a little boost to help get them over the hump and back into the action. With a Level 90 Character Boost, you can grant one character a one-time boost to level 90. Bring your hero up to speed and join the fight on the front lines,” states the product page.

To upgrade, purchase a character boost from the in-game shop. After that, return to the character select screen and click on the Character Boost token. Next, follow the on-screen prompts to boost the character and select custom options; characters level 60 and above will also receive a skill level boost to their primary professions. This new level 90 character will be outfitted in level-appropriate gear.

The upcoming expansion pack Warlords of Draenor increases the level cap to 100. The expansion also provides one free level 90 character boost to be used once players pre-purchase the expansion. That means players can create a Level 1 character just for the expansion, and then use the upgrade to bypass all the level grinding.

“That’s a little different from the plan we laid out at BlizzCon, but based on the feedback, it’s obvious that many of you would like the chance to get acquainted with a new class before heading into the expansion,” Blizzard’s blog stated in January. “This will also give more players the opportunity to experience the current end-game content and the events leading up to Garrosh’s exodus to Draenor.”

The World of Warcraft team also said last month that they heard feedback from players that they’d be interested in boosting multiple characters to 90, including alts they play with friends on other factions and realms.

News of the level up option for $60 arrives as Blizzard announced the release window for Warlords of Draenor: Fall 2014. The game will arrive in a Standard Edition (physical and digital) for $49.99, and as a Digital Deluxe Edition for $69.99. In addition to the game, this Deluxe edition will also provide a Dread Raven Mount and Dred Hatchling Pet, Warchief portraits for StarCraft II and a Warsong pennant for Diablo III.

The expansion pack will also be available in a retail exclusive Collector’s Edition. This $89.99 bundle will have the digital bonuses from the Digital Deluxe Edition, a full-color hardcover art book, a behind-the-scenes two-disc Blu-ray/DVD set, a CD soundtrack, and a Warlords of Draenor mouse pad.

“We’re sending players deep into uncharted territory with Warlords of Draenor,” said Mike Morhaime, CEO and cofounder of Blizzard Entertainment. “New features like the Garrison will give players a commanding role in the Warcraft saga like never before, and everyone can get in on the action right away with the included level-90 boost. There’s never been a better time to go to war for the Horde or the Alliance.”
