project cars wii uThe Wii U version of Slightly Mad Studios’ gorgeous racing game Project Cars–which the developer calls the “most authentic” racing game ever–will launch in 2015, months after the Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC versions. The developer confirmed the news today.

“We’re committed to delivering an exceptional and unique experience for racing fans on Wii U and for this we kindly ask our devoted and passionate Nintendo fans for a little more time in order to ensure the game delivers on our vision of being the most authentic, beautiful, and technically-advanced racing game on any platform,” publisher Bandai Namco said in a statement to Eurogamer.

Concerns about the status of the Wii U version of Project Cars began to surface earlier this year, as no gameplay footage from this version has been shown to date.

Project Cars supports virtual reality headsets Oculus Rift and, on the PS4, Sony’s Project Morpheus. Slightly Mad says playing Project Cars in virtual reality will allow you to “really feel” what it’s like to sit in the driver’s seat of a car you can probably never afford.
