The Weinstein Company has, according to The Hollywood Reporter, secured big screen rights to Every Exquisite Thing, the new novel from The Silver Linings Playbook author Matthew Quick.

According to the trade, the storyline follows a straight-laced female athlete “who starts to get in touch with her wild side after reading a cult classic novel”. Although unconfirmed, the novel in question is likely Oscar Wilde’s The Portrait of Dorian Gray, which famously includes the line, “Behind every exquisite thing that existed, there was something tragic.”

The Weinstein Company was also responsible for releasing the Silver Linings Playbook (the film version lacked the novel’s definite article) in 2012. A critical hit, it was nominated for eight Academy Awards and took home one with Jennifer Lawrence receiving the statue for her performance in a leading role opposite Bradley Cooper. The Weinstein Company is also releasing Quick’s Forgive Me, based on his 2013 novel of the same name.
