Logan PaulLogan Paul has been cast in the second season of Freeform’s procedural drama “Stitchers.”The social-media star joins the sci-fi show in a recurring role. His episodes will air on April 5 and 12.

“Stitchers” is about Kristen (Emma Ishta), a young woman recruited into a secret government agency to be “stitched” into the minds of the recently deceased, using their memories to investigate murders and help solve mysteries before they go to the grave. Paul will play Theo, Camille’s (Allison Scagliotti) older brother, who arrives in Los Angeles with a whole lot of trouble right behind him. Theo’s unwelcome entrance back into Camille’s life complicates the world she’s built for herself and brings up memories of the past she tried to leave in Bakersfield.

With more than 9 million followers on Vine, Paul is one of the most popular social-media stars today. He also has 3.7 million Instagram followers and nearly 1 million on Twitter. Paul’s “Stitchers” gig is another step in the new wave of casting, which has seen digitally native talent make their way to traditional platforms like television and film.

Just last week, Paul’s younger brother Jake Paul — also a huge Vine personality — became the first social-media star to be cast as a series regular on a Disney Channel show. Also recently, YouTube star Colleen Ballinger-Evans, better known as her character Miranda Sings, landed her own series at Netflix; Vine star Andrew Bachelor, aka King Bach, had a scripted comedy in development at Fox, though the pilot was ultimately not ordered; and HBO has greenlit a scripted Issa Rae series.

Other than “Stitchers,” Paul’s acting resume is beefing up. Last year, he appeared in an episode of “Law & Order: SVU” and the pilot of Fox’s comedy “Weird Loners.” Up next, he’ll star in his first feature-length film in Legendary Digital Media’s thriller “The Thinning,” alongside Disney starlet Peyton List. And according to his social-media post, he’ll have a small part in Dwayne Johnson’s “Baywatch” movie.
