The Motorola Xoom tablet sold at Verizon stores will begin receiving the update to the Android 4.0 operating system on Monday, June 4, the carrier revealed. In doing so, it will become the first Verizon tablet to get the latest OS, which brings a number of native changes and new features to the 10.1-inch tablet. Those who view a lot of photos on the device should be happy to hear a photo editor is part of the update, letting them crop and rotate photos, remove red eyes, adjust levels, and add effects.
There is also a speech-to-text feature, while notifications can now be dismissed by simply swiping a finger over them. The launch bar can be customized and folders created on the home screen, allowing for quicker access to commonly used apps.
The 107.9MB Android 4.0.4 update will otherwise bring with it a number of fixes, including resolving 4G LTE upgrade and connection issues, improving stability, locking the device, improving e-mail folder ordering, and more. The app launcher now gets the ability to drag apps in order to get information, uninstall, and disable them. The mobile hotspot feature was also improved, and the screen will rotate between landscape and portrait modes faster.
