In a report by Variety, Valiant Entertainment is reviving itself with plans to return in print and digital comics next year.
The four-year-old company also announced Thursday that former Marvel CEO and Vice Chairman Peter Cuneo has become chairman of Valiant hasĀ received a capital infusion fromĀ Cuneo & Co.
Valiant noted that Peter Cuneo’s tenure with Marvel concluded with Marvel’s sale at the end of 2009 to Disney for over $4 billion.
Valiant’s library has over 1,500 titles including “Archer and Armstrong,” “Bloodshot,” “Eternal Warrior,” “Harbinger,” “Ninjak,” “Quantum and Woody,” “Psi Lords,” “Rai,” “Second Life of Dr. Mirage” and “Shadowman.”
Valiant Comics was founded in 1989 and the imprint sold over 80 million copies. Writers have included Jim Shooter, Bob Layton, Barry Windsor Smith, Joe Quesada, Jim Lee, Frank Miller, Garth Ennis, Warren Ellis, Bryan Hitch, Steve Ditko, Mike Mignola and Neal Adams.
Valiant Comics was acquired in 1994 by video game company Acclaim Entertainment, which went out of business in 2005. Valiant Entertainment acquired rights to the Valiant Comics library in 2007 and began operations in 2008.
