US Cellular to Kick off LTE with Galaxy S Aviator, Tab 10.1

US Cellular acted on promises and detailed its first LTE devices. Both would be slight tweaks of existing Samsung devices and would include the Galaxy S Aviator, an adaptation of the Droid Charge from Verizon, and the Galaxy Tab 10.1 LTE. The two should arrive in April and March respectively.

The regional carrier has already outlined the March deployment of the LTE network itself. Nine cities have been singled out and include Cedar Rapids, Davenport, and Des Moines in Iowa; Bangor and Portland in Maine; Greenville in North Carolina; and Madison, Milwaukee, and Racine in Wisconsin. Texas was mentioned off-hand as getting access in March, although US Cellular didn’t say which cities or whether they would make the launch day.

About 25 percent of the network should get LTE, at least initially.

Although Android and Samsung are the picks for the initial unveiling, the network has been open to an iPhone once it gets LTE. Most expect that to happen in mid-year.
