peanutsFrancetv distribution, the commercial arm of French pubcaster France Télévisions, has sold the “Peanuts” shorts collection to Turner Broadcasting’s Boomerang in the U.S..

Based on Charles M. Schulzhe’s comic strips, the 500 shorts feature the iconic characters of Charlie Brown and Snoopy. They will be broadcast on Boomerang with promotional crossover on Cartoon Network in the U.S. and the Cartoon Network app.

The airing of “Peantus” shorts in Boomerang is timed with the release of Twentieth Century Fox’s “The Peanuts Movie” in the fall.

The landmark deal between francetv distribution and Turner Broadcasting will allow the shorts to be unveiled for the first time in an English-speaking country.

“Having Boomerang as the everyday TV home of Peanuts for the U.S. is an important piece of our kids-focused content strategy,” said Leigh Anne Brodsky, Peanuts Worldwide and Iconix Entertainment’s managing director. “Today’s kids will be able to get their daily dose of Peanuts from the leader in kid’s entertainment.”

Produced by French studio Normaal and Peanuts Worldwide, “Peanuts” shorts are currently on air in over 20 territories around the world, including in France (France 3), Latin America (Discovery LatAm) and Koreq (Disney Korea).
