TotallyWrite to Become Contour

Mariner Software  announced  it has made an agreement made with LTW Productions Canada, Inc. to acquire and redevelop TotallyWrite story development software for Mac OS X.  Newly-named Contour, will make its public debut under the Mariner brand with existing content and new features, before the end of 2008. Contour is the latest release in Mariner Software’s line of personal creativity and writing software.

Contour enables writers to develop a movie concept from the idea stage to outline form. It guides the writer through plot points of all three acts and explains the major storytelling secrets to crafting a movie. The main character’s journey is explained through archetypal themes. Once the story passes through Contour, the writer can transfer their work into Montage, Mariner Software’s screenwriting software, to write and start marketing the script.

“I’m incredibly excited,” said Jeffrey Alan Schechter, a two-time Emmy award, Writer’s Guild of America, and Writer’s Guild of Canada nominated writer. “I’ve benefited from this software for years, and it’s always bothered me that I wasn’t able to get the word out more effectively about it. It’s ironic that the greatest proof that this software works is that I’ve always been too busy earning a living as a writer because of it to spend the time to market it properly. I’m thrilled that Mariner Software has gotten behind Contour in such a big way.”

Contour will be available, for sale and trial, before the end of the year on the Mariner Software web site at and various retail outlets. The shipping version will initially be offered in English and sell for $49.95 ($44.95 download). Support for more languages is expected in the near future. Contour requires Mac OS 10.4 or higher. A Windows version will be available in 2009
