Marvel may have found the screenwriter to pen its upcoming “Black Panther” movie. Variety is reporting that Joe Robert Cole, who comes from Marvel’s in-house writing program, is in negotiations to write the script to the comic book adaptation starring Chadwick Boseman.
The program has already supplied one scripter who delivered a hit, “Guardians of the Galaxy” screenwriter Nicole Pearlman. The studio believes the system helps writers understand the Marvel universe better.
Kevin Feige is producing the pic. Boseman is attached to star as T’Challa, the prince of the African nation of Wakanda, who must take over the mantel after his father’s murder.
No director is currently attached, although Marvel had considered helmers like Ava DuVernay. The film will hits theaters on July 6, 2018.
Cole is also attached to pen Marvel’s “Inhumans.” He is repped by CAA and Circle of Confusion.
