Universal has released one last trailer for award-winning music video helmer Melina Matsoukas’ first feature directorial effort Queen and Slim starring Daniel Kaluuya (Widows) and Jodie Turner-Smith (Nightflyers).
Lena Waithe produces the film about a black man and a black woman on their first date in Ohio who are pulled over by the police for a minor traffic infraction. The situation escalates, with sudden and tragic results, when the man kills the police officer in self-defense. Terrified and in fear for their lives, the pair are forced to go on the run.
However the incident is captured on video and goes viral, and the couple unwittingly becomes a symbol of trauma, terror, grief, and pain for people across the country. As they drive, these two unlikely fugitives will discover themselves and each other in the direst and most desperate of circumstances.
Queen and Slim comes on the silver screen on November 27th.
