Ford at MWC revealed it will debut its Sync in-car infotainment system in Europe on the upcoming B-Max minivan. The service will be available in nine languages, including UK English, EU French, EU Spanish, EU Portuguese, German, Italian, Turkish, Dutch, and Russian. At the same time, the carmaker introduced Sync AppLink globally, the system meant to allow drivers to operate their handsets using their voice.
AppLink is available in 10 North American vehicles and lets users get voice access to Stitcher, TuneIn, iHeart Radio, Slacker Radio, OpenBeak, Pandora, Scout by TeleNav, and Sync Destinations apps.
The Ford Emergency Assistance feature in Sync would alert emergency service operators after an accident in the correct language of the region in which they are located. It is coming to 30 countries in Europe and elsewhere.
The B-Max will be unveiled at the Geneva show in March and go on sale later this year.
Ford plans to expand its four million current Sync-equipped vehicles to 13 million by 2015 across the world. This would include 3.5 million vehicles in Europe
