Star Trek Renegades“Star Trek: Renegades” will get its world premiere at the Crest Theater in Los Angeles on August 1, the Wrap is reporting. The project is an independently produced TV pilot for a potential new “Star Trek” online series.

In the film, The Federation’s main suppliers of dilithium crystals are disappearing. Space and time have folded around several planets, effectively isolating them from any contact with outside worlds, so Admiral Pavel Chekov (“Star Trek: TOS” star Walter Koenig), head of Starfleet Intelligence, turns to Commander Tuvok (“Star Trek: Voyager” star Tim Russ), Voyager’s former security officer and current head of the newly reorganized Section 31.

Tuvok must put together a new covert, renegade crew — mostly outcasts and rogues — even criminals. This new crew is tasked with finding out what is causing the folding of time and space, and stopping it at all costs.

The film also stars Robert Picardo, who appeared as the Holodoctor on a number of “Star Trek” projects, as well as Adrienne Wilkinson, Bruce A. Young and Edward Furlong. Russ also directed the film in addition to reprising his role as Tuvok. It was funded through a combination of Kickstarter, Indiegogo, and Pay Pal.
