Sony’s next iteration of the Xperia mobile device line could be unveiled as early as January, according to a rumor. It is claimed the Xperia Z4 and a larger Xperia Z4 Ultra will be shown off during CES at the start of next year, barely four months after the company revealed the Xperia Z3 range, and almost two months before the first-year anniversary of the Xperia Z2’s launch.

Sources of Phone Arena claim the standard Z4 will have a 5.4-inch Quad HD Triluminos display, paired with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 processor. It will apparently have a similar 20.7-megapixel rear camera to its earlier counterparts, but possibly using a recently-revealed upgraded sensor and two more light elements, a 4.8-megapixel front camera with a wide-angle lens, and a 3,420mAh battery.

The Z4 Ultra is touted to have a larger 5.9-inch Triluminos display, of unknown resolution, with the same Snapdragon 805 processor, though it will have a thin 5.7mm casing and a lower-resolution 16-megapixel rear camera with dual LED flash. Both smartphones are said to increase the amount of RAM to 4GB, something which may be considered as a luxury which may drive up the cost of manufacturing without providing much of a benefit to users.
