Skifta’s New iOS App Let’s You Use DLNA Devices Over AirPlay

Qualcomm Atheros recently made a version of its Skifta media-sharing app available to the Apple iPhone and iPad. Skifta, which has been available to Android devices for some time, uses the DLNA protocol to enable devices such as smartphones and tablets push media content from their device to their DLNA-capable TV or stereo.

The iPhone does not natively support DLNA. Instead, Skifta for iOS uses Apple’s own AirPlay technology. Using Skifta, iPhone and iPad owners can connect their devices to other DLNA equipment and share their media. The iPhone and iPad can already do this through the AppleTV, but not directly to TV sets. Skifta fills in the gap for iOS owners.
