Shutterfly Announces Photo Based Social Network

Shutterfly today announced Shutterfly Share Sites is now out of beta.  The new service that combines the best of photo sites, blogs, and social networking in a way that allows customers to easily connect and collaborate with friends and family in a safe and secure environment.

Customers can to post and share their photo books on their personalized share sites. Once a photo book has been added, share site members can preview the book, add comments and order their own copy. If you wish to create their own version of the book, a one-click process allows you to save it to your Shutterfly account to edit.

Shtterfly hopes share site solves the  “multiple camera, single event” photo occasions like family reunions, weddings and team sporting events.

Share site owners receive a dedicated email address for their site, (e.g., where members can email comments and photos that are posted directly to their Share Site.

Shutterfly customers have created more than 60,000 individual share sites since the company opened its beta test earlier this summer.
