Vanity Fair correspondent Gabe Sherman has been set to write Gidden Media’s The Apprentice, an original feature screenplay about how a young Donald Trump set himself on the path to become President of the United States.

The plan is to craft the story of Trump’s rise to power as a young builder coming up in the gritty world of 1970s and 1980s New York. The narrative will unfold from the perspective of his early influences, including lawyer and mentor Roy Cohn.

Sherman has reported on Donald Trump for more than 15 years and penned The Loudest Voice in the Room, the definitive book on the Roger Ailes sexual harassment scandal which is becoming a Showtime limited series.

Amy Baer is producing and Sherman is executive producing the Trump project.
