Seagate LogoAlongside the LaCie releases, the consumer division of Seagate has released three new products. Also shown today at the Consumer Electronics Show are the SeagateĀ® Personal Cloud and Seagate Personal Cloud 2-Bay network attached storage devices, the Seagate Wireless 500GB portable drive, and the Seagate Seven ultra-thin external drive.

The Seagate Personal Cloud line comes in two versions, one supporting one drive, and one model supporting two. When combined with Seagate Media apps, the system supports LG Smart TVs from 2012 or late, Samsung Smart TVs and Blu-ray players from 2012 with SmartHub; Streaming media players from Roku, the Google Chromecast, and the Apple TV through Apple AirPlay. Android, iOS devices, Kindle tablets, Windows 8-based devices, and other equipment supporting DLNA streaming can also receive streams from the Personal Cloud. Personal Cloud devices also work seamlessly with Apple Time Machine software. Seagate Personal Cloud will be shipping to retailers later this month in 3TB, 4TB, and 5TB capacities. Seagate Personal Cloud 2-Bay will be available in 4TB, 6TB and 8TB capacities in the future. Pricing is not yet available.

Seagate Wireless provides a solution to stream your favorite HD video on your Android Tablet or Smartphone, iPad, iPhone, Kindle Fire, Windows 8 computers and Windows RT tablets. Seagate Wireless storage is accessed through the free mobile Seagate Media app for Apple iOS, Android, Kindle Fire HD, Windows 8 tablets. Mobile devices connect to Seagate Wireless over a Wi-Fi connection, generated by the drive itself, eliminating the need to be within range of an existing network connection. Seagate Wireless will be available by early February for a retail price of $130.

The Seagate Seven is an ultra-slim external drive that evokes the legacy form factor of 2.5-inch internal hard drives. The company says that the “all-metal enclosure highlights the essence of a bare hard drive, Seagate’s core competency for over 35 years.” Seagate Seven is a USB 3.0 500GB portable hard drive that will be widely available in mid to late January for a suggested retail price of $100.
