Screenium Hits Version 2.0 – New Video Editor, Better Performance

Synium Software has updated its screen-recording and screencast creation software Screenium to version 2.0 which introduces a brand new video editor that offers multi-track video and audio editing, animation options, audio filters, automatic zooming in and emphasis of mouse clicks among other features. To celebrate the new release, the developers are offering the program from the Mac App Store or directly from the company’s website at a sale price.

The video program works with Mac OS X 10.5 and later, and is able to record the main screen of a Mac while users perform actions or demonstrate workflows, then lets users edit the recording completely within the program itself (though the video can also be edited in other programs like Final Cut or iMovie if the user prefers). The new editor is streamlined for editing screencasts, with chapter marks for quick navigation and expanded audio and video effects.

The recording engine offers better performance, with the Follow Mouse recording now much more responsive. Camera capture no longer makes exclusive use of the camera, the company has added QuickLook support to the media library as well as direct YouTube uploading. A number of bugs from the previous version have also been addressed.

Text, shapes and even video sequences can be animated to bring more dynamism to a presentation, either by hand or with a selection of pre-configured animation options, and various audio filters can help improve the sound quality of screencasts. New and easier mouse-emphasis options are available that automatically zoom in to a specific area or animate mouse clicks to help users see exactly where, what type and how many mouse clicks are made while the operator explains what is happening on-screen.

Until March 15th, new buyers can get Screenium 2 for $30, $10 off the normal price. Users who are upgrading from previous versions of Screenium can upgrade for $15. Buyers who purchased the software on or after January 1st of this year are entitled to a free upgrade.
