Samsung in a denied rumors that it might buy RIM. The Korean company said it hadn’t considered buying the BlackBerry creator and was “not interested” in the prospect, representative James Chung told Reuters. He also rejected the most direct claim, that RIM had offered itself to Samsung.

The statements appear to completely shoot down the rumor, which had RIM co-CEO Jim Balsillie pressing hard to get Samsung’s interest. While it’s not clear what the specifics would have been, RIM had supposedly been looking for at least over $10 billion and more likely between $12 billion to $15 billion for its sale.

It doesn’t rule out rampant speculation that RIM might still be interested in licensing out its software, most likely BlackBerry 10, to others.
