Ryan Gosling Will Bring The Underwater Welder to the Silver Screen

Its been announced that recent Oscar nominated actor Ryan Gosling (La La Land,The Nice Guys), Ken Kao’s Waypoint and Anonymous Content are producing as adaptation of the best-selling graphic novel The Underwater Welder from Award Winning cartoonist Jeff Lemire. Gosling’s previous producing credits include his directorial debut Lost River, Derek Cianfrance’s Blue Valentine and Nicolas Winding Refn’s Only God Forgives.

The Underwater Welder is the mind–bending graphic novel written by critically acclaimed, award–winning cartoonist, Jeff Lemire, and published by Top Shelf/IDW. Ryan Gosling, Ken Kao and Anonymous Content will produce the film. The New York Times bestselling graphic novel details a man in the dangerous profession of underwater welding, who has a supernatural encounter at the bottom of the sea.

Jeff Lemire, Chris Staros (Editor–in–Chief, Top Shelf) and Ted Adams (CEO and Publisher, IDW Publishing) are attached as executive producers.

Gosling will be seen later this month in Terrence Malick’s romantic drama Song to Song, then in the blockbuster sequel Blade Runner 2049 opposite Harrison Ford in October.
