Following the events of the season finale (we’ll avoid spoiling them here), Portia de Rossi has been promoted to series regular for the 2015-16 season of ABC’s Scandal, the actress has confirmed today. On Twitter, she thanked the network and show, saying “Thank you @ScandalABC I can’t wait to start season 5!!”
The actress joined Scandal in a recurring role during the 2014-15 season, playing Elizabeth North, the scheming chair of the Republican National Committee . Over the course of the season, North becomes First Lady Mellie Grant’s campaign chairperson during Grant’s run for the US Senate. Scandal was renewed for a 5th season on May 8.
