Pierce BrosnanPierce Brosnan is returning to TV as the star of AMC’s upcoming drama “The Son”. Brosnan will replace Sam Neill in the lead role of Eli McCullough in the new series, which is based on Philipp Meyer’s novel of the same name. Brosnan first came to the attention of American audiences when he starred in the popular TV series “Remington Steele” opposite Stephanie Zimbalist. He played a former thief who teams up with a female private eye. The series ran from 1982-1987.

Other than a miniseries version of “Around the World in 80 Days” in 1989, Brosnan has worked consistently in film, including four outings as British superspy James Bond. That means “The Son” will be his first TV starring role in nearly 30 years. “The Son” was ordered straight-to-series, with 10 hour-long episodes set to air in 2017. It is described as a multi-generational epic telling of the story of America’s birth as a superpower through the bloody rise and fall of one Texas family. It also stars Henry Garrett, Zahn McClarnon, Paola Nunez and Sydney Lucas.
