Pandora’s Gotta Squeezebox

Logitech and  Pandora  the most popular Internet radio service in the United States, announced that Pandora is now free of charge for owners of Logitech Squeezebox Duet, Logitech Squeezebox and Logitech Transporter network music players.   Logitech is the first network music player manufacturer to offer Pandora at no extra charge.

Logitech’s network music players are devices that can be connected to most stereo systems, letting you listen to Internet audio-“even when your computer is off or in another room from the one you computer my be in.  Logitech’s network music players use advanced 802.11g WIFI wireless networking for accessing your Pandora, other Internet radio stations and subscription services.

As Internet radio goes mainstream, Logitech is positioned at the center of this evolving ecosystem,” said Tim Westergren, Founder of Pandora. “With a Squeezebox player, Pandora listeners can listen to their personal radio stations in any room of their home.”

So Who Pays

While in the past Pandora has been available on Squeezebox players as a subscription service, by this fall the radio service will be supported by advertising on Squeezebox.   Logitech believes this will provide an new opportunity for marketers to reach a discriminating and influential consumer.

Personalized Radio

Pandora is a free, personalized radio service, which can be accessed on the PC, the Mac and mobile devices, including Apple iPhone., as well as Logitech Squeezebox.

Since 2000, Pandora has been building the Music Genome Project by employing musician-analysts to carefully review and categorize every song .   This technology lets listeners build station(s) only music they love.

Listeners can create up to 100 of these personal radio stations and refine them by providing feedback via the Pandora radio tuner.   Additionally, listeners can create profiles, search for other listeners in the Pandora community who have similar musical tastes, and find stations built by other listeners, using artist and song names as well as genre and mood search terms.

The Logitech Squeezebox Duet network music player is available worldwide for a suggested retail price of $399.99. The Logitech Squeezebox Classic network music player is available worldwide for a suggested retail price of $299.99. The Logitech Transporter Network music player is available for a  suggested retail price of $1999.99.
