Panasonic’s Toughbook line has joined the ranks of Ivy Bridge-enhanced computers. The improved CF-19 features a 3.3GHz Core i5 processor inside a ruggedized magnesium case, which also protects a 10.1-inch touchscreen with 6000-nit brightness for use in direct sunlight.

The convertible notebook offers Intel HD 4000 integrated graphics to power the standard display, or an optional dual-touch panel. A 500GB hard drive is standard, with options for SSD upgrades. Input options include a single USB 3.0 port and a lone USB 2.0 port, while legacy equipment can be connected via a serial port or PC Card slot. A HSPA+ upgrade for mobile broadband is also available.

The CF-19 can be put into “concealed mode” for high-rise environments, disabling the backlight, status LEDs, speakers, and all broadcasted communication, such as 3G, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. Intel anti-theft protection technology can be chosen as an upgrade as well.

The MIL STF 810G-tested notebook has been evaluated for dust, shock, heat, and impact resistance. The CF-19 ships in July, and pricing starts at €2950 ($3,727).
