Other World Computing last week announced the the Accelsior S, a new PCIe card with direct mount support for a 2.5-inch SATA 6Gb/s SSD. The latest addition to OWC’s Accelsior line enables PC, Mac Pro tower and Thunderbolt interface expansion chassis users to add additional storage which in some cases will be faster than the native SATA bus.
The card requires a 4x PCIe slot, and will deliver more than 500 MB/s of throughput. OWC notes that the biggest boost would be delivered to a first generation Mac Pro limited to SATA 2 on the internal bus.
The card is available now on the OWC website for $58.
