The Help star Octavia Spencer has set her sights on some small-screen mystery-solving. Deadline is reporting that Spencer is set to headline a NBC reboot of the hit CBS show, “Murder, She Wrote.”
The original series, which ran for 12 seasons beginning in 1984, starred Angela Lansbury as Jessica Fletcher, a retired-schoolteacher-turned-mystery-novelist who made use of her detective skills to combat the surprisingly high murder rate in her hometown of Cabot Cove, Maine.
Alexandra Cunningham (“Desperate Housewives“) is writing and producing the new take (which will feature Spencer’s protagonist as a hospital-adminstrator-turned-mystery-novelist-and-detective) alongside David Janollari.
