Nissan launched an iPhone app for its Leaf electric car owners. The company has now made versions of this app available for BlackBerry and Android based device owners as well. Using it, a Leaf owner can check the state of the battery charge or start charging, get an estimated driving range, and turn the climate control system on or off.
Android owners need at least Android 2.1 to take advantage of the app. BlackBerry owners have a longer runway and can use devices still running OS 5. All three need an active subscription to Nissan’s Carwings for their full features.
