Super Smash Bros InvitationalThe live-stream E3 2014 competition has been further detailed in regards to “Super Smash Bros 4” for Wii U. According to a report from Polygon on May 20, Nintendo confirmed that the 16 “highly-skilled” participants have already been selected. However, fans can still attend the tournament next month as spectators.

Up to 3,000 individuals will be able to head to the Nokia Theater, which is a short distance away from the E3 2014 convention. The tournament is set to begin at 7 p.m. PST on June 10. Nintendo is also providing a live-stream on various Twitch channels for those who can’t physically show up at the competition.

“Super Smash Bros 4” for Wii U and 3DS should end up being one of the most highlighted games at E3 2014. Along with the competition, Nintendo is also going to have a dedicated 90-minute conference just for the crossover fighting game. The publisher should be revealing a bunch of new information, including some possible reveals along with potential updates to the release dates. Best Buy customers can also try out a playable demo at select stores at around the same time.

“Super Smash Bros 4” for 3DS will be coming out first as it is apparently farther longer in the development cycle. The handheld version features an exclusive Smash Run mode in which players have to explore a dungeon to gain power-ups before participating in the actual fight. An optional outline feature is also provided to help player distinguish the character from the background in the small screen.

Although “Super Smash Bros 4” is coming out for the 3DS later this summer, it won’t be launching for the Wii U until the winter. To encourage customers to buy both versions, Nintendo will be adding different stages to the two games. The product is launching with a price tag of $39.99 on the 3DS and $59.99 on the Wii U.
