wii-u-system-updateNintendo has released a new Wii U system update in Europe and North America. The company says Wii U firmware 1.5.2 makes “further improvements to overall system stability”, while “other minor adjustments have been made to enhance the user experience”.

A Wii U system update released in July introduced the ability for users to transfer save data for software, Mii characters and user settings from one Wii U console to another.

June’s Wii U system update added a quick start menu, in response to frustration expressed by console owners over the operating system’s sluggishness. Lifetime Wii U sales were just shy of 6.7 million units as of the end of May 2014, with the console having launched in November 2012.

At Gamescom in mid-August, Nintendo released a Wii U software montage trailer showcasing the system’s recent and upcoming lineup. Key 2014 releases include Hyrule Warriors, Bayonetta 2 and Super Smash Bros for Wii U & 3DS.
