New CW Dramas – Messengers, iZombie Get Premiere Dates

PilotThe CW set premiere dates for new dramas “iZombie” and “The Messengers” on Sunday. The network also announced a return date for “Supernatural,” which will now move to a new night.

“iZombie,” starring Rose McIver as a recently turned zombie who eats brains and helps solve crimes, premieres on Tuesday, March 17 at 9 p.m.. Apocalyptic drama “The Messengers” premieres Friday, April 10 at 9 p.m.

“iZombie,” adapted from a DC Comics property of the same name, is executive produced by Rob Thomas of “Veronica Mars” fame and Diane Ruggiero. McIver (“The Lovely Bones”) stars in “iZombie” alongside Malcolm Goodwin, Robert Buckley (“One Tree Hill”), Rahul Kohli and David Anders (“The Vampire Diaries”). The series premieres after a new episode of another freshman series, “The Flash,” which debuted to record ratings in October.

“The Messengers” focuses on an ensemble cast of characters whose lives are changed when a mysterious object plummets to Earth, instantly connecting these five strangers who are begin to develop extraordinary gifts. The series’ antagonist, known only as The Man, is played by Diogo Morgado (“Son of God.”) Thick in religious lore, the show touches upon subjects like the Revelation, Angels of the Apocalypse and the Rapture.

The cast includes Shantel VanSanten (“Gang Related,” “One Tree Hill”), Jon Fletcher (“City of Dreams”), Sofia Black-D’Elia (“Betrayal,” “Gossip Girl”), JD Pardo (“Revolution”), Joel Courtney (“Super 8”), Anna Diop (“Everybody Hates Chris”), Craig Frank (“Mixology”).
