Crucial has introduced a new range of budget 2.5-inch SSDs that start from just $50. The v4 SSD range ranges in size from 32GB through to a range topping 250GB that also arrives at a similarly affordable $190 price point. Crucial suggests that the new drives are aimed at giving a performance boost to systems built prior to 2011.

The v4 SSDs use a SATA II interface with a bus bandwidth of 3GB’s and offer users upgrading from spinning hard drives faster boot times, quicker transfer rates and better durability thanks to the lack of moving parts. The drives offer 230 MB/s read speeds with write speeds coming in at 190 MB/s.

The range of v4 SSDs are available from Crucial’s webstore now, and are compatible with both Mac and PC desktops and notebooks.
