Netflix CEO Chosen for CES 2016 Keynote Speech

netflix-ceo-reed-hastings-salary-cutNetflix’s Reed Hastings and YouTube’s Robert Kyncl will be keynote speakers at the upcoming International Consumer Electronics Show, held in Las Vegas in early January.

Hastings, the Netflix CEO, will speak on Wednesday, Jan. 6, about the company’s preparations to be nearly global by the end of 2016.

“Netflix continues to prove itself as a leading innovator by progressively changing the status quo of bringing entertainment to consumers,” Gary Shapiro, president and CEO of Consumer Electronics Association, said. “We look forward to hearing from an executive who is leading a company that has redefined viewer expectations and has, quite frankly, changed the way that we all consume content.”

Kyncl, vice president, Google and global head of content and business operations, YouTube, will deliver the Entertainment Matters keynote address. He will discuss YouTube’s role in the world of digital content.

“YouTube’s success in the realm of digital content has created a platform with the goal of allowing communities to share content in a whole new way” said Karen Chupka, SVP, CES and corporate business strategy, CEA. “We look forward to hearing Kyncl’s views on the role of YouTube in the digital content world.”

The Variety-sponsored Entertainment Matters program has also named two YouTube vloggers as their ambassadors for CES 2016. Justine Ezarik, known online as iJustine, and Joey Graceffa will work with the the Entertainment Matters program to help the Hollywood community navigate the tech show through exhibits, keynotes and panels.

“I am honored to serve as a CES 2016 Entertainment Matters Ambassador with Joey,” Ezarik said. “I have attended CES many times before so I am really excited to experience the show from a new angle.”

“I have always wanted to attend CES so serving as a CES 2016 Entertainment Matters Ambassador is a huge honor,” Graceffa added. “This is a very exciting opportunity and January cannot come soon enough.”
