Neil Gaiman Confirms There Will Be A Second Season Of Sandman At Netflix

Earlier this year Netflix and Warner Bros. Television hashed out a deal that will see Neil Gaiman’s most loved Sandman comic turned into a live-action TV series for the streamer.

This will be the most expensive TV series that DC Entertainment has ever done. Gaiman and David Goyer are also executive producing.

This week, speaking with Radio Times, Gaiman has revealed that development is running so smoothly on the eleven-episode first season that they’re already mapping out the second:

“There are three of us, showrunner Heinberg, Goyer and me, and we’ve just finished writing the first episode, and plotting and breaking down the first two seasons, so we’ll see what happens next.”

The original Vertigo comic follows Dream (aka. Morpheus), the Lord of the dream world who is held captive for seven decades by an occult ritual. Having escaped, his kingdom has fallen into disrepair in his absence and he sets about changing his old ways – hard for a being who has been around for billions of years.

The series features various elements of mythology, horror, historical events and humor. Characters include Dream’s siblings such as his gothic punk rocker looking sister Death, his talking animal assistants, and the immortal The Corinthian who has two mouths for eyes.

There is no word on casting or production start at this point let alone a potential release date.
