Deadline reports that Odd Mom Out creator Jill Kargman and comedian/television host Seth Meyers have teamed with Universal TV for a reboot of The Munsters.

Kargman will write the script and executive produce with Sethmaker Shoemeyers Productions.

Created by Allan Burns and Chris Hayward, the original The Munsters ran for seventy episodes across two seasons from 1964 to 1966. The series starred Fred Gwynne as the patriarchal Herman Munster, a bashful Frankenstein’s monster caricature, with Yvonne De Carlo as his vampire wife Lily, Al Lewis as her father, Butch Patrick as their lycanthropic son Eddie, and their “normal” niece, Marilyn, played by  Beverley Owen and Pat Priest in the series. The cast for the series would reunite for some feature films as well, including the theatrically-released Munster, Go Home! in 1966 and the made-for-TV movie The Munsters’ Revenge in 1981. Additional TV movies and specials include the animated The Mini-Munsters in 1973, Here Come the Munsters in 1995, and The Munsters’ Scary Little Christmas in 1996.

A sequel to the sitcom, titled The Munsters Today ran from 1988 to 1991 and Hannibal creator Bryan Fuller developed a reboot of it in 2012 under the title Mockingbird Lane. The pilot episode aired in October of 2012 as a Halloween special, but NBC did not take it series.
