The VoiceNBC easily won Tuesday’s primetime ratings race in key demos behind a two-hour blind auditions episode of “The Voice,” while the net’s critically beloved comedy “Parks and Recreation” took advantage of airing behind the music competition and saw a nice spike for its finale. Also of note on the night was another solid outing for ABC’s new comedy “Fresh Off the Boat.”

Overall for the night, NBC rolled in all key demos while CBS — behind the night’s most-watched show, “NCIS” — dominated in total viewers.

According to preliminary national estimates from Nielsen, “The Voice” (3.8 rating/11 share in adults 18-49 and 13.8 million viewers overall) continued its hot start to this cycle, retaining about 95% of its previous night’s premiere audience in 18-49 and up a bit vs. the show’s comparable night a year ago (a 3.7 for an hourlong episode). It was the night’s No. 1 program in all under-55 demo categories.

Airing at a special time of 10 p.m., the series finale of “Parks and Recreation” (1.6/5 in 18-49, 4.2 million viewers overall) shot up about 40% above the 1.15 it averaged for last week’s back-to-back episodes in the 8 o’clock hour. The 1.6 is slightly better than the 1.5 “Parks” opened this season with in January and it’s the top demo rating for the show since May 2013. In total viewers, this was the best for “Parks” since it drew 4.3 million behind an episode of “30 Rock” in January 2012.
