Navy Lt. Cmdr. William Coulter of Seattle Will Do the Flyover for Seahawks, Packers NFL Playoff Game

LCDR COULTEROk while I know some of you out are Packers fans and the rest of you are backing the Seawhawks. All of you can back Lt. Cmdr. Coulter who will part of a pre-game flight demonstrator during today’s NFL playoff game between the Green Bay Packers and Seattle Seahawks.

He will be flying the Boeing EA-18G Growler out of Whidbey Island Naval Air Station.  The Growler is a carrier-based electronic warfare aircraft, a specialized version of the two-seat F/A-18F Super Hornet.

He has been serving in the navy for 10 years as a Naval Flight Officer. He is currently serving with the Zappers, Electronic Attack Squadron (VAQ) 130.

After graduating from Mariner High School ofEverett, Washington in 2000 The Lt. Cmdr. attended the University of Washington. He graduated in 2004 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Criminal Justice. He earned his commission through the University of Washington NROTC program. Following flight training in Pensacola, Fla., he was designated a Naval Flight Officer in September 2006 and reported to VAQ-129, stationed at NAS Whidbey Island, for fleet replacement training in the EA-6B Prowler.

Navy Duties

Upon completion of the FRS, Lt. Cmdr. Coulter reported to the VAQ-141 “Shadowhawks” where he completed two combat deployments. The first was in support of Operation Enduring FREEDOM onboard USS Theodore Roosevelt (CVN 71). Upon completion his first deployment in 2009, VAQ-141 transitioned from the EA-6B Prowler to the EA-18G Growler. The second deployment in 2011 was aboard USS George H.W. Bush (CVN 77) in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom.

In September 2011 Lt. Cmdr. Coulter reported to the VAQ-129 “Vikings” as a Fleet Replacement Instructor. During his tour, he attended the Airborne Electronic Attack Weapons School in Fallon, Nev. He also served as the assistant training officer, instructor under training coordinator and standardization officer.

Lt. Cmdr. Coulter transferred to VAQ-130 “Zappers” while on deployment supporting Operation ENDURING FREEDOM in April 2014 where he is currently serving as Training Officer.

Awards and Family

Lt. Cmdr. Coulter’s personal decorations include Flight Air Medals, multiple Navy and Marine Corps Commendation and Achievement Medals, and various unit campaign and service awards.

Lieutenant Commander Coulter and his lovely, beautiful, and amazing wife Erica Coulter of Bothell, WA and have four children; Maddox, Maguire, Paxton and Kingston. They reside in Mount Vernon, Wash.
