Motorola today announced the Defy Pro, a new Android smartphone that includes both a physical QWERTY keyboard and touch screen.

The Defy Pro fills a slot in Motorola’s “Lifeproof” line of devices, which are semi-rugged and can withstand a bit of abuse. The Defy Pro is dust-proof, water-resistant, and includes a scratch-resistant Corning Gorilla Glass display that measures 2.7 inches. The Defy Pro has a number of physical control buttons, including a track pad, dedicated send/end buttons, and four hardware menu keys. Other features include a 5-megapixel camera with autofocus and flash; Wi-Fi, GPS, Bluetooth, microUSB; and support for microSD cards up to 32GB. On the software side, Motorola is pitching the Defy Pro as a capable business device, and it includes VPN support, QuickOffice, and MotoPrint.

Last, the Defy Pro also has three different user profiles that prioritize different sets of apps for outdoor use. The profiles include a general “Outdoor View” as well as “Hiking View” and “Workout View.” Each customizes the home screen appearance with easy access to different apps.

The Motorola Defy Pro is launching in Brazil on July 15. Motorola hasn’t indicated if this device will be sold by U.S. carriers.
