Mobee Announces Inductive Charging for Apple Keyboard, Trackpad

Posted by at 10:32 am on April 12, 2011

Mobee has expanded its inductive charging to cover the rest of Apple’s current input hardware. The Magic Bar uses the same inductive technique to charge Apple wireless input with a barrel-shaped battery area, including the Wireless Keyboard and the Magic Trackpad. The charger replaces the AA batteries altogether with a lithium-ion battery pack that needs only contact with the charging cradle to power up.

The charger is entirely USB-powered and serves as a cradle for the keyboard or trackpad while it’s being replenished. Mobee believes the battery should be good for about 10 days of use and will top up in about six hours.

Pricing hasn’t been disclosed, although pre-orders are due to start on May 15 with the expectation of a late June release.
