Ryan Coogler’s Creed revived a franchise and took it in a fresh new direction that was both critically and commercially successful.Now they are working hard to have spin-off that’s worthy of own series of films while still honoring the world of Rocky.
The film’s co-star and director Sylvester Stallone has previously hinted that Dolph Lundgren’s Ivan Drago character from Rocky IV might return to the franchise in some capacity, with Lundgren himself seemingly indicating he’s back.
This week, a UFC fighter has revealed that he’s auditioned to play Drago’s son in the film. Specifically 21-year-old MMA fighter named Sage Northcutt explained to MMAFighting.com that he put himself on film in the hopes of scoring the part:
“The new Creed 2 movie is coming out so I was actually going to audition for that. Got a little audition tape, so hopefully that goes through. That would be pretty neat. Being Ivan Drago’s son in the movie? That would be pretty fun. Sylvester Stallone seems like a really cool guy, and Dolph Lundgren seems awesome. I think me and Mr. Dolph Lundgren look kind of alike.”
Filming on the Creed 2 is slated to begin early February in Philadelphia.
