Following a successful Kickstarter campaign a few months back, it’s official – the Miss Fisher and the Crypt of Tears feature is going forward. Filming will begin in Morocco and Melbourne in October.
Game of Thrones and The Babadook star Essie Davis will reprise her title role from the 2012 Australian-made murder mystery series which became a global cult hit after Netflix scored the property in 2015.
Based on the crime novels by Kerry Greenwood before, Davis played a glamorous 1920s private detective alongside co-stars Nathan Page, Miriam Margolyes, and Ashleigh Cummings who will all return for the film which Deb Cox is penning.
Screen Australia, in association with Film Victoria, serves as the principal investor while private investors and fans have contributed more than A$1 million to the budget following an extraordinarily successful crowd-funding campaign. Tony Tilse (Ash vs. Evil Dead) will helm.
