Microsoft Expands Traffic Data Availability for Windows Phone

Microsoft said that it has added real-time traffic conditions to more secondary and neighborhood streets across the U.S. in the native Windows Phone maps app.

The additional traffic data has been pulled in from Nokia’s mapping and navigation services. Microsoft explained that users won’t have to update any applications, they new data will be there next time they use maps.

Second, Microsoft is expanding the availability of live traffic to a wide range of new regions, including cities in Austria, Belgium, Brazil, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, India, Indonesia, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, Mexico, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Russia, South Africa, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Turkey, Ukraine, and the United Kingdom.

As in the U.S., Windows Phone users in those regions will not have to update anything, the traffic view option will appear in the app in the next few weeks.
